Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. As a licensed therapist, I can assess for postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, including postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, and postpartum OCD. Many new moms wonder whether what they’re experiencing is postpartum anxiety or OCD, or if it’s a normal adjustment period. I provide support, treatment planning, and evidence-based therapy to help manage symptoms and promote emotional well-being. If a medical evaluation or medication is needed, I can collaborate with your healthcare provider to ensure you get comprehensive care.

No. You don’t need a diagnosis or mood disorder to benefit from therapy. Therapy is a space to explore your emotions, relationships, and life changes, and to strengthen your confidence and coping skills. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, or simply want support in showing up more fully for yourself, therapy can help you feel understood and empowered.

You don’t have to be a parent to benefit from therapy. This is a space to explore your relationships, understand yourself, and strengthen your connection with the people who matter to you. Whether you’re thinking about parenthood or just navigating life’s changes, therapy can support you in showing up more fully for yourself and others.

Everyone is welcome here, regardless of gender identity or assigned sex at birth. Therapy is a space to explore your experiences, relationships, and personal growth in a supportive and non-judgmental environment. I aim to meet you where you are and help you feel seen, understood, and empowered in the ways that matter most to you.

Yes, absolutely. Dads deserve support too, and it matters more than many people realize. Becoming a parent can bring stress, anxiety, identity shifts, and pressure to “hold it all together,” and a lot of dads feel like they have to push through it alone. Getting support isn’t a sign of weakness, it helps you show up more present, connected, and confident in your role as a parent and partner. You don’t have to figure it all out on your own.
-
Absolutely. It’s never too late to strengthen your relationship with your grown children. Therapy can help you process past experiences, improve communication, and build more understanding and connection. Strengthening these relationships benefits both you and your children, creating deeper closeness and a greater sense of support for everyone involved.

I’m currently in-network with Kaiser and UnitedHealthcare. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, you may still be able to receive partial reimbursement for sessions.
Many clients choose to submit a monthly superbill for reimbursement. A superbill is a detailed receipt that includes all the information your insurance company requires to process your claim. After you submit it, your insurance provider may reimburse you directly for a portion of the session fee, depending on your plan.
Some clients also choose not to use insurance at all. This can offer greater privacy, since insurance companies do not receive information about your diagnosis or treatment, and it allows for more flexibility in the length and focus of therapy. It can also remove requirements such as diagnostic labeling or limitations on the number or type of sessions.
I’m happy to talk through these options with you so you can choose what feels like the best fit. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.
At Turning Tide Therapy, we value transparency when it comes to the cost of care. If you are paying out-of-pocket (self-pay), we will provide a Good Faith Estimate to help you understand the expected cost of services. Actual costs may vary depending on session length or any additional services.

Yes! Even if I’m not yet in-network with your insurance provider, you may still be able to use your out-of-network benefits. I provide a superbill after each session, which includes all the information your insurance company needs to submit a claim for reimbursement.
Many clients choose this option while I complete credentialing with insurance companies, so you can continue therapy without delay.
