Samantha Sandgren, MA, LPCC
I’m originally from the Midwest and earned my Master’s in Counseling from the University of Minnesota. When I’m not in the therapy room, you can usually find me in my ever expanding garden, out and about finding entertainment for my two active children, or reading with a cat on my lap when the day is done.
In therapy, I focus on creating a space that feels safe and supportive, while also being honest and challenging when needed. I aim to help people recognize their own strengths, face difficult situations, and build self-compassion.
I believe the relationship between therapist and client is key to making progress. When there’s trust and safety in the relationship, the harder work becomes possible.
My approach is grounded in humanistic and psychodynamic therapy, and integrates several evidence-based modalities, including Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). I also incorporate mindfulness and self-compassion practices, always tailoring my approach to fit each person's needs.
I have advanced training in Perinatal Mental Health, from PSI (Postpartum Support International) and I provide support for women and partners preparing for or navigating the journey of parenthood.
